3D Design and Printing

Overview

3D design uses software applications to create an object within a three-dimensional space. This makes it possible to design complex objects. The manufacturing process that creates a physical object from 3D designs is called 3D printing. This makes it possible to make complex designs that might not be easily available.

The industrial application of 3D printing is called additive manufacturing. It is the production of 3-dimensional objects using digitally-enabled machines to guide the laydown of successive layers of material for the production of an object. The process works by laying down thin layers of material in liquid or powdered plastic, metal or cement and then fusing  the layers.
