Industry Skill

Overview of Initiative and Enterprise Skills

The ability to independently spot opportunities, produce new ideas, access their commercial viability and follow through on them without waiting for external motivation while others are yet to see the need or opportunity.

Though life in the workplace can be fulfilling, it can also be demanding performance expectations, while support may be limited. Organisations are always on the lookout for individuals who can spot opportunities and motivate themselves to get things done with minimal resources.

“An NGO I volunteered to work with needed funds to execute projects in our community. I came up with the idea of writing to corporate organisations, submitted proposals to their CSR units, and followed. It resulted in the sourcing of the fund required for us to execute our projects.”

Believe in yourself and have the courage to try out your ideas. Be more comfortable taking responsibility and contributing to the success of extra-curricular groups to which you belong on campus. Even when you fail, you would have lived by your conviction and gotten the opportunity to learn.
